The segment made certain to highlight him as 'still an angry comic...Christian conservatives against those liberals ruining this country'. That's a pretty strong statement considering we don't actually hear Stine himself professing this. All we really hear Stine talk about is his growing up years, how more and more people are willing to spend money of things more wholesome and encouraging, and that with today's media 'when it comes to getting on television we're [Christians are] ignored'.
The reporter refutes that last statement made by Stine with the following response:
"Not exactly." (a clip of Charlie Brown's Christmas starts to play) "The assumption of American TV is in fact that most American's are in fact Christian. 'It's Charlie Brown's Christmas', (switches to showing a clip from a Friends episode with Ross and Emily getting married) 'it's a minister who's almost always showing up for the wedding scenes....And so for you to say that Christians don't get a crack at the media..."
Wow! A clip of a shown-once-a-year 20/30 year old cartoon (don't get me wrong, I do like Charlie Brown) and a clip from a show that was completely lacking in any sense of Christian morality are the best examples the segment can come with trying to defend 'American TV's assumption'!? I challenge the reporter(s) to find more convincing evidence that indeed Christian's are getting a fair 'crack at the media'. I don't believe they can or will. Otherwise, they need to stick simply to just sharing a unique story about a Christian man who has found what the Lord has called him to do. I don't need to hear their political interpretation of Christian conservatives and poor defenses about the media being Christian enough.
